Over 78,000 people in Pakistan, including those affected by the 2005 earthquake, have benefited from the healthcare provided by an appeal supported by Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals.

A surgeon who realised his dream of founding a hospital for poverty-stricken villagers in his native Pakistan has returned from his latest fact-finding mission.

A cake sale at St Michael’s school, in Ashford, raised nearly £400 for charity in just 30 minutes.

Urological Surgeon and Chairman of the Hashim Welfare Hospital Appeal, Idrees Awan, has returned to the UK after his recent fact finding mission to Pakistan.

A doctor from Surrey is returning to his birthplace in Pakistan for the next stage of a hospital project he has worked on for nearly a decade.

 

Charitable giving during Ramadan in October 2006 has raised more than £30,000 for the Hashim Welfare Hospital, a UK and Pakistan based charity, which provides hospital and community health services in Pindi Hashim, Kharian, Pakistan.   The Hospital is affiliated with Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust in England and covers Woking, Surrey where over half the money was raised.   A significant donation came from the Blackburn area.   Founder and Chairman of the Hashim Welfare Hospital, Dr Idrees Awan will be using his holiday to visit the project from 15th February to 7th March 2007.

There may be thousands of miles between them - but the principles of caring for the sick is a common bond that was cemented this week when two hospitals chiefs signed a document officially formalising their affiliation.
